Community Workforce Development
The Community Workforce Development Program’s objective will be achieved by functioning as an innovative, partnership-driven complement to the Aboriginal Skills and Employment Training Strategy(ASETS).
The pre-apprenticeship program can be delivered to all First Nation & Metis Settlement communities in the province of Alberta. Trainees will be prepared to write the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) entrance exam, be able to pursue a trade of their choice and obtain hands-on training. Participating communities determine what existing community projects or new housing the trainees can assist in building. For example; Schools, Water Treatment Plants, etc.
The Trade Winds to Success Indigenous pre-apprenticeship training program has become the best screening tool for employers because of our empowerment of participants to be ready, willing, and able to work. Participants complete our program with the relevant knowledge, hands-on training, safety tickets, PPE, and be able to pursue the trade of their choice.
The partnership is building a skilled Indigenous workforce right in their own communities, for the community as well as integration into Alberta’s workforce.
Partnerships with Trade Winds to Success, Alberta Labour Training Trust Fund and First Nations communities and Metis Settlements have completed projects such as the Tiny Home.
