Find your way to a successful career
We try to make the application process as easy as possible, so you can build a rewarding career in the construction trades.
Step 1
Attend an information session
Start your journey by attending one of our weekly information sessions held in both Edmonton and virtually. These sessions give you an in-depth overview of the program requirements, the trades we offer training in, and the application process.
Step 2
Complete the application
After attending an information session, you’ll need to complete an application form. This form will be provided during the session or you can get it from our office.
Step 3
Academic assessment
You’ll take an academic assessment to ensure you have the basic math and English skills required for our fast-paced training program. If needed, we offer referrals for upgrading your skills.
Step 4
Selection interview
After the academic assessment, you will be interviewed. During this interview, our staff will discuss your readiness, willingness, and ability to commit to the program and employment in the construction trades. This is an opportunity for us to understand your goals and for you to ask questions.
Step 5
Funding support
Once accepted into the program, we refer you to resources to apply for a living allowance and other funding options. Our team will guide you through this process.
Living allowance
We connect you with resources for living allowances to help cover your daily expenses while you are in training at Trade Winds. This helps you focus on your learning without the stress of financial burdens.
Tools & equipment
Trade Winds provides essential tools and safety equipment needed for each trade offered. This includes personal protective equipment (PPE) and a basic tool set, giving you a strong start in your practical training.
Funding resources for graduates
If you are a graduate/ apprentice taking the next level in your schooling, our team can guide you through the process of applying for additional bursaries from external sources to help you navigate the options.
