Alicia Buffalo- 3rd Year Scaffolder
“I loved tradewinds, met some awesome people and some of them I am still in contact with,”- Alicia Buffalo.
Alicia is a married mother of 5 children and is from Maskwacis, AB. She mentioned that life wasn’t always the best for her, and at one point she was living in her van with her children. But that changed when she enrolled in Trade Winds to Success. Alicia applied to the Carpentry and Scaffold Program in 2011 and passed her entrance exam with 89%. She was also proud to say that she never missed a day of school! After completing the program, she joined Union 1325 but unfortunately, there wasn’t much work for carpentry. In February 2012 she accepted another job, this time scaffolding, and has been doing it ever since. She is currently a 3rd-year scaffolder, and we hope she goes for her Journey(wo)man ticket soon!
Trade Winds is also a family affair, her husband also entered the Trade Winds program for Millwright, but due to the economy took a job scaffolding alongside Alicia.
Congrats and continue working hard!
